Whispering Oaks Blue Marlins Swim Team is a member of Maverick Summer Swim League and is open to residents AND non-residents of Whispering Oaks.

Our coaching staff provides a disciplined, fun program for swimmers. We offer beginner levels for all ages up to advanced. We are a learn-to-swim program available for kids ages 4 -18.  This is a group setting with EXCELLENT COACHING STAFF. They make it fun for kids to learn to swim.

Our program runs for approximately 6 weeks. Beginning with our first in-water practice on May 18, 2026 and runs through June 30, 2026.  Meets are optional, but we encourage 95% participation.  

Our team participates in four Dual Meets (where we swim against another team), a Championship Meet and an All-Star Meet. Meets are optional, but we encourage 95% participation.  Our Championship Meet has a TBD date (either be Saturday, June 27, 2026 or Sunday, June 28, 2026) and for those that qualify during the Championship Meet, the All Star Meet will be held on June 30, 2026.

Practice times can be found below.  Swimmers will fit in the following groups:

Little Guppies - (Learn to Swim) Swimmers are usually between the age of 4 to 6 years old.  They will be placed in one of the 2 groups by coaches.  This group time will be 30 minutes.  The swimmer cannot be afraid to put their face in the water.  

Minnows - Beginner Swimmers (must be able to swim the entire pool without assistance).  We like to keep our swimmers with their age group so this group has a breakout lane for swimmers who are more advanced in their age group.  This is a coach selected group. 

Sharks- Intermediate Swimmers (must be able to swim all four swim strokes).  This group includes a breakout lane for swimmers who are more advanced. This is a coach selected group.

Elite- Advanced Swimmers (mainly teenagers/high school age swimmers)

Practice Info – Beginning May 18^th – Monday through Friday evening practices until school is out. Practice will switch to mornings beginning Monday, June 1st.

The main focus of the first two weeks of practice is about developing a routine and working on their endurance and learning how to streamline thru the water. The first couple of weeks can be tough depending on weather, temperature of the pool and just getting into swimming shape, so please encourage your kids to stick with it. The coaches will be organizing the kids the first few days, so please be patient as they work thru this process. We understand if you cannot make every practice because SCHOOL comes first!
